Airports in Italy

When most people travel, transportation is a primary concern. There are several airports in Italy which have been acknowledged as international destination, either for flights from or outside Europe.
Many
international flights arrive in Rome so in planning your transportation needs you need to start from there. When you arrive at the airport you can rent a car from one of the several car rental companies. In addition to local companies there are the international names such as
Hertz and
Enterprise Rent-A-Car so you should be able to reserve your vehicle online in advance and have it waiting for you at the airport.
There are 2 airports in Rome and they are called the
Fiumicino and the
Ciampino Airports. Buses and shuttles depart from the airports' arrivals areas about every hour and can take you to the Termini Station which is the central train station.
Another international
airport in Italy is situated in Milan, called
Milan Malpensa. It is usually for tourists or students visiting the northern part of Italy. From there you can take a shuttle bus to arrive to the city center through Milan central train station. There is another airport in Milan for low-budget flights such as
Ryan Air and
Easy Jet, called airport Milan-Bergamo, which is about 1,5 hour depart by a shuttle bus from Milan central station and vice versa.
Bologna has also its own airport, called Marconi, with destinations to various countries in Europe like Germany, Poland, France, Portugal; and also for local flights to Naples, Sardinia, or Sicily. It boards several
European airline companies such Germanwings, Ryanair, Portugal Air (TAP), Lufthansa, British Airways. The
Bologna-Marconi airport serves a shuttle bus which departs every a half hour and takes you to specific bus stops until the Bologna train station.
The last but not least is the airport in Naples which boards also low-cost flights from various European countries. It has become a popular destination and handles a large number of flights. Major airlines include Air Canada, Air Europe, Air One, Air Vallée, Airdolomiti, Aer Lingus, Alitalia, AZZURRAair Airlines, British Airways, Delta, KLM, Meridiana and TWA.
