Cinque Terre is one of Italy�s treasures which spreads along the 18 km of notched cliffs between Levanto and La Spezia. Cinque Terre became a Unesco World Heritage site in 1997, which includes a protected marine area, and became a national park in 1999.

A myriad of paths link the various villages of the Cinque Terre and their neighbouring hilltop hamlets. Spectacular views of cliffs, coasts and cultivated terraces are offset against the rich flora of this area.

You are invited to hike along the trails which link the various shrines of the Cinque Terre. These walks are set amongst passages of enchanting natural beauty and are rich with stories and legends.

A hike which will allow you to explore vine filled terraces and the scents of aromatic plants which are typical of Mediterranean bush. Through a path that is perched on cliffs overlooking the sea, you are able to reach one of the most unspoilt areas of the Cinque Terre: Torre Guardiola, an observation centre of plant and bird life.

The Cinque Terre National Park has chosen to follow a sustainable development model. The Park has committed itself to encouraging a social and economic development while paying particular attention to the aims of safeguarding the environment, the health and the quality of life of the local inhabitants and making sure that resources are available for such aims. You can hire bicycles or go on horseback with assistance from trained instructors in certain specially-equipped areas.

The famous product of the Cinque Terre is the famous sweet raisin wine named Sciacchetr�. There is also an excellent dry white wine as well as the salted anchovies from Monterosso; the extra virgin olive oil, pesto, various local sauces and the magnificent Sciacchetr� cheese. Not to forget, the jams and the Limoncino liqueur; all of which the products can be bought at the Information Points, or tasted at the Park�s bars and restaurants.

In order to preserve the ecological balance of the village centers, the Park has organized a transportation system which uses exclusively environmentally-friendly means and which, by respecting the environment, safeguard the territory. The Cinque Terre Card plus Train Pass enables you to avail the same services of the Cinque Terre Card and to take an unlimited number of train trips class on local trains from Levanto to La Spezia Centrale and back.
